Solent Credit Union has always had very good links with Swaything Fronline. This is a very friendly and effective service and has helped many of our members. They have never been busier and would like to develop into other parts of the city. Below is an extract from their recent newsletter.
The Swaythling Frontline Vision At this time where benefits are being cut, and many are being made redundant, we cannot meet the demand for free debt and benefit advice from our Swaythling office. We would like to see something get started over on the west side of the city, i.e. Millbrook, Shirley, and/or in the city centre. The Money Advice Service The Money Advice Service, is an independent advice organisation established to help everyone understand and manage their money better. Try their online money health check. The an online money health check to give people unbiased money advice and, importantly, a personal action plan to help them prioritise their financial needs and longer term goals. So where are we focusing? Our successful Home Trust Loan (link to Website) service is expanding; it assists with essential repairs to home-owners’ properties. It runs in partnership with 16 different Local Authorities across Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex. We also have an exciting new innovative service to be launched later this year supporting community, social enterprises, local churches and other organisations seeking to regenerate buildings and other assets in their local communities. We will be widely publicising this nearer the time. We will continue to oversee the repayments on all current unsecured personal loans from SCML.
